How to adopt from us
In order to adopt from Igisum you must fill out our adoption application. It is not a complicated procedure but does help us know you and any other pets you have at home a little better. Your application is used to help us better decide whether or not you will be a good rat parent. Also, if these happen to be your first pet rats it is fine. Just because you are not completely knowledgeable doesn't mean it will lessen your chances. Upon adoption everyone will be receiving a rat care packet (Written by Michelle Angelico AKA Darksong, special thanks also goes to her for formatting it strictly for adopters).
To send the adoption application please email it to me at Igisum.Rattery@gmail.com you can also print it out and mail it to us if you feel more comfortable doing it that way. Once we have received your application you should receive an email or phone call from us within 48 hours, if you do not receive an email in that time frame please feel free to email us regarding it. After the 48 hours you will be contacted and told whether or not you have been approved. We may email or call you with questions regarding your application. After your response please wait 24 hours for whether or not you are definitely approved.
If you are approved you must send us your name, your age, your state, and then you should send us your preference on the rats gender, ear type, coat type, and color. Your info will be added to our reserves list. The reserves list is not shown on the website.
After being put on the reserves list we will try to place you with a kitten which best fits what you are looking for. You will receive updates on the babies progress and how they are maturing. Babies will not be specifically reserved until two weeks of age. YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PROVIDED US WITH A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU CHECK OFTEN. If you do not receive any updates please email or call us.
IF AT ANYTIME YOU DECIDE YOU DO NOT WISH TO ADOPT FROM IGISUM PLEASE LET US KNOW SO THAT YOUR KITTEN MAY FIND ANOTHER HOME AND OTHER ARRANGEMENTS MAY BE MADE.
Our adoption application must be signed in order for the adoption to take place. So at the time of pick up or drop off it must be signed no ifs, ands, or buts, this also includes the form saying that this is a strict no breeding contract.
pickups please provide a secure, safe carrier to bring your rat(s) home in and please bring your adoption fee with you. We currently accept cash, money orders, we will consider paypal. We will not have adopters over our house for the safety of our own rats. So as a precaution for our rats not to get sick we usually designate a different place to meet. We do offer group adoption meetings so you may meet other adopters and stay in touch and it makes it easier because it helps to get adoptions done all at once for us. We sometimes will accept adopters or other rattery owners into our house to meet our rats but for the most part we will not because of precautions against sickness. You may have someone else pick up your rat, just let us know who the person is and we can make further plans via email.
